The Andromeda Nebula is the most beautiful part of the Andromeda constellation. This is a small elongated cloud, which can be seen with the naked eye during the rising of Andromeda. In fact, this bizarre cloud is nothing more than the light of the stars of the giant Galaxy, moving away from the Earth at high speed. An ancient Greek legend is associated with the name of the constellation. At the time of the gods, great warriors and cruel rulers, there lived a beautiful girl named Andromeda. She was the daughter of the rulers of Ethiopia - King Cepheus and his beloved Queen Cassiopeia. Queen Cassiopeia was so beautiful that no one could compare with her unearthly beauty. Once the Queen was walking along the seashore and saw the sea beauties - the Nereid nymphs. Cassiopeia was proud: even the beautiful nymphs could not compete with the beauty of the queen of Ethiopia! This angered the Lord of the Seas Poseidon, who, in punishment to the proud queen, sent a terrible flood and bloodthirsty monster Tiamat to her country, coming out of the depths of the sea to the shore and devouring people and cattle. King Cepheus, unable to endure the suffering of his people any longer, went to the Great Oracles in order to find out how he could get rid of the terrible monster. The oracle answered him that for this the king needs to sacrifice the most precious thing he has - his beloved daughter Andromeda. Obeying the inevitable, Cepheus ordered Andromeda to be chained to a rock. And then a huge whale Taimat rose from the depths of the sea. It seemed that nothing would save the beautiful princess, but then Andromeda was seen by Perseus - the son of the god Zeus and the earthly woman Danae. Perseus fought the monster and defeated him, freeing the beautiful Andromeda.
