“Ghost of the mountains”

“Ghost of the mountains”

About The Artwork

“Ghost of the mountains” is the name of the snow leopard, which lives in 12 countries of the world, the Snow leopard (irbis) is unique. Despite its name (translated from English as “snow leopard”), it is not closely related to the leopard. Its skull is similar to that of a cheetah, but its body structure is closer to that of a puma.

Today, all over the world, snow leopards are under threat of extinction.True, the animal is under protection, but who in the vastness of Asia will be able to catch a poacher who killed one of these magnificent cats? These big cats are hunted for their skins, fur and other body parts that are used in traditional medicine.

Experts explain: information about the meetings of traces and the predator itself is becoming less and less? This beast certainly deserves a holy attitude, kind attention and protection. It is interesting to see him alive, and not just as a symbol of the economic breakthrough of independent Kazakhstan or on a TV screen advertising beer. The growing intensity of the development of mountain ecosystems and the consumption of biological resources leads to a reduction in the range and abundance of the snow leopard, which threatens its existence as a species. The real threat to all large animals, including the snow leopard, is currently the construction of roads, entertainment centers, ski resorts and other infrastructure. The inaccessibility of habitats has been one of the main factors contributing to the conservation of animals. Now these places will certainly be much more accessible to people, including poachers.

What can we all do? Louder and more often talk about it! Shout and beat all the bell towers. Such situations should not be left in the shadows. You can often hear:“global warming is a myth”, “why should I think about it”, “I have more important things to do”, “your actions are a drop in the ocean” and the like. However, glaciers are melting, bees are dying, forests are almost gone, coral reefs and algae that provide 80% of the planet's oxygen are disappearing, we are losing 200 species of plants and animals per day, carbon dioxide is heating the planet and all this is happening so fast!
